Life is the Coffee
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.
The conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and in life. Offering these coffee lovers
a cup of coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment
of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them
to help themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:
"If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.
While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress."
"What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups
and were eyeing each other's cups."
"Now consider this:Life is the coffee and jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools
to hold and contain Life, and do not change the quality of Life. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup,
we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided."
"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? - Mark 8:36 in HOly Bible

一群事業有成的校友，一起去拜訪大學的老教授。他們的談話很快就轉到對工作和生活壓力的抱怨。他們都愛喝咖啡，老教授為要請大家喝咖啡
就走進廚房，帶了一大壺咖啡和各式各樣的杯子出來，有瓷器的、塑膠的、玻璃的、水晶的。有些看來很普通，有些很昂貴，有些很精緻。
老教授告訴他們為自己倒杯咖啡。
當所有學生手上都端了一杯咖啡後，教授說：
「你們是否注意到：所有好看、昂貴的杯子，都被拿走了，留下來的只剩下看來既普通又便宜的杯子。只想要為自己得到最好的，
這是很正常的，但這就是問題與壓力的來源。」
「你們真正想要的是咖啡，而不是杯子。但你們卻有意去拿最好的杯子，同時還注視著別人的杯子。」
「現在想想看：人生就像這杯咖啡，而在社會上工作、金錢和職位就像是杯子。杯子只是用水裝載人生的器皿，不能改變人生的本質。
有時候，僅僅專注在杯子，會使我們無法享受神所賜的咖啡。」
人就是賺得全世界，賠上自己的生命，有什麼益處呢? - <<聖經>> 馬可福音8章36節

我未出世 未入社會 但對社會的情況 朋友間的工作狀況 有很深的感觸
彷彿人活在世界上 就是為了 長大>念書>工作>賺錢>買東西>養小孩>退休>等掛
這樣的循環 這樣的漩渦 是不是很難走出來 就算要走出來 也很身不由己
金錢 對我來說 目前定義為 通往生活品質 尋找生命體驗 維生的工具
對未出世的我來說 這樣的想法也許單純 也許會被認為是小孩的想法
但 我不了解的是 為什麼 這個世界上有人就能用這樣的態度過活 不以工作為生活重心 而是追求更好的精神生活及生活品質 而去工作賺錢
可以立志當一輩子的背包族 可以以環遊世界為生活目標
工作 是種 尋求自我肯定 及追求自我成長 的舞台
有一句成語 叫 積非成是
在一群人做了同樣的錯事 一群人做了同樣不合理的事 慢慢的 這樣的事情就再也不再不合理 也不叫錯事了
